The Air Travelers Association advocates for airline passengers on airline safety, security, savings, and service. It is based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC.
David Stempler, President of the Air Travelers Association, is an internationally known authority on airline, airline passenger, and travel issues, and is often called the "Voice of Passengers". He is frequently interviewed by television and radio networks, newspapers, wire services, and magazines. He has appeared on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC, and is often quoted in – the Associated Press, Reuters, Dow Jones Newswires, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other publications.
In addition to the "Airline Accident Report Card", David Stempler produced the list of the “World’s Safest Airlines”, and issued reports on the safety of flying in Russia, China, India, Colombia, Korea, Taiwan, and other countries. A study that he published on the safety of commuter airlines, hastened the enactment of improved safety rules for those carriers.
David Stempler is an aviation attorney and has a background in all areas of aviation. He has been President of two regional airlines and a Senior Vice President of a jet charter company. He was the Chairman of an Aviation Consumer Summit and was part of the legal team that was responsible for the grounding of all DC-10 aircraft in 1979.
